WEATHER ERICE

Erice's castles, the town on the right, the Egadi islands in the background

Erice is a medieval mountain town in Sicily, whose beauty and rich history make it worth visiting as much as Taormina and Cefalù.

Any time of the year, Erice is a fulfilling experience thanks to its ancient architecture and its wonderful sights.

There is no traffic, no annoying noises. You can hear the birds sing, and the air of its pine forests and its gardens is pure. Erice is not large, and its urban plan - a perfect equilateral triangle - can be toured with ease.

Medieval cathedral and bell tower

Wandering among the churches, palaces and castles of Erice, it is like living a dream with open eyes, especially when you suddenly find a breathtaking panroamic view extending as far as the eye can meet on western Sicily, embracing Trapani, the Egadi islands, the Saline reservev and the Stagnone Lagoon, Marsala, and further away in the sea the islands of Pantelleria and Ustica and sometimes, on days of very good visibility, even Cape Bon, Tunisia's outpost in Africa.

Sight on Trapani, the saltpans reserve and the Egadi archipelago

Erice is located in the heart of a very interesting tourist area, of which it is as it were the tip of the diamond.

Erice is an ideal place to relax after a day of holidays. After a swim at the beach in San Vito Lo Capo or Scopello, after a day trip to the Zingaro reserve or the island of Mozia, a visit to the temple of Segesta or Selinunte acropolis, after shopping and dinner Trapani, find the calm and cool of Erice for an evening and a night of total rest.
